6:00 PM Meeting
Speaker: Inna Lykova, PhD, Research Scientist at the Canadian Museum of Nature
Topic: Extraordinary Mineral Diversity at Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec
Mont Saint-Hilaire, the Canadian premier mineral locality, is home to over 440 minerals – over 7% of all known species – found in an area smaller than one square kilometre. Many of these species are very rare and found either at Mont Saint-Hilaire only or in just a handful of places worldwide. We will discuss the driving forces behind this astounding mineral diversity and its rarity.

Location and Directions: Canadian Museum of Nature, 240 McLeod St., Ottawa. Enter through the main entrance and turn left, go to the end of the hall past the cafeteria.
