What we do:
We are a non-profit organization with a passion for all things minerals. Our interests span geology, mineral identification and collecting, fossil identification and collecting, related field trips, gems and crystals, mineral usage, and more. Some facts about us:
- Established in 2024, the OVMC boasts over 200 active members of diverse ages and interests.
- Based in Ottawa, Ontario, our geographic focus extends across much of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, areas rich in minerals.
- Members enjoy field trips to abandoned mines, quarries, and other collecting sites in the region.
Join our monthly meetings occur on the second Thursday of each month at the Canadian Museum of Nature, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm and bring your rocks and minerals for identification by our experts. Following a brief business meeting, enjoy a presentation by a guest speaker on intriguing topics.
