SUMMARY:Excursion sur le terrain à DeWitts Corner Spinel
DESCRIPTION:DeWitts Corner\, au sud de Perth\, est connu comme l’un des plus beaux sites de cristaux de spinelle au Canada.  À l’origine\, il s’agissait d’une mine de calcite destinée à alimenter un four local dans les années 1840. \n\n\n\nNote : Consultez l’article du blog de Doug Scott sur Dewitts Corner\, perdu et retrouvé\, pour une plongée fascinante. \n\n\n\nMembers of the Ottawa Valley Mineral Club collecting at the DeWitts Corners spinel pits\, September 2024\n\n\n\nOutre le spinelle\, on peut trouver d’autres minéraux tels que la calcite\, le corindon\, le rare\, l’hogbomite\, la magnétite\, la hornblende\, le diopside et la scapolite. \n\n\n\nÀ environ une heure de route d’Ottawa et après une courte marche\, nous arriverons aux carrières de spinelles.
