SUMMARY:Amherst Island Fossil Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Note change in date from Aug 6 to Aug 20 (necessary for insurance purposes) \n\n\n\nAmherst Island is located just south of Kingston. We will meet at the Ferry at 10:00 am. After a short ferry ride at 10:30 am\, we plan to visit two fossil locations: 11:00 am at Topsy Farms and in the afternoon at the far south-east end of island near the bird sanctuary. \n\n\n\nEnjoy the unique Irish dry stone walls along the drive. \n\n\n\nOther activities available are: \n\n\n\n\nBeautiful sandy beach:  Back Beach Park and Sand Beach Wetlands Conservation Area\n\n\n\nNeilson Store Museum\n\n\n\nOwl Woods\n\n\n\nKingston Field Naturalists Bird Sanctuary\n\n\n\nIn Stella:  General Store\, Back Kitchen Restaurant\n\n\n\nTopsy Farms: meet the animals\, view their products\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFossils include crinoids\, brachiopods\, bryozoan\, snails\, corals\, trilobites about 400 million years old. It is a short walk from parking areas.
