SUMMARY:OVMC September 2025 Meeting - The Fabulous World of Fluorescent Minerals
DESCRIPTION:5:30 PM Mineral Identification and Kids Corner \n\n\n\n“Rock Doctor” Clinic: Starts at 5:30\, ends at 6 PM. Members are free to bring in a reasonable number of samples or specimens to be identified by the expert mineralogists in the club. This has been a very popular activity for the membership (at times exceeding our capacity to deal with everyone present!). \n\n\n\n“Kids Corner”: We will now be having a table set aside for children to learn the basics of mineral identification and other related activities. Thank you to Tara Conroy for setting this up! \n\n\n\n6:00 PM Meeting \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Bob Boisvert\, Fluorescent Minerals Expert \n\n\n\nTopic: The Fabulous World of Fluorescent Minerals \n\n\n\nBob is an expert in the field of fluorescent minerals and will share his knowledge through a newly updated presentation as well as hands-on demonstrations of various minerals and the different wavelengths of UV light.  Our local geological region:  Grenville Province is rich in minerals that fluoresce. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us as we explore the wonders of fluorescence in minerals. \n\n\n\nLocation and Directions: Canadian Museum of Nature\, 240 McLeod St.\, Ottawa. Enter through the main entrance and turn left\, go to the end of the hall past the cafeteria
